1. What is PET

        PET film, also known as high-temperature resistant polyester film, is composed of only three elements: C, H, and O. Due to its highly symmetrical molecular structure, it is called poly(ethylene terephthalate). PET material possesses many excellent properties, including excellent optical performance, film-forming ability, and weather resistance. It belongs to a new type of food-grade polymer material, contains no toxic substances or odors, and can be directly used for food packaging. Items in our daily life such as plastic wrap, beverage bottles, and baby milk bottles are all made from PET material. PET decorative film is made from PET material. During use, it does not emit toxic or harmful gases; it is green and environmentally friendly. At the same time, it has advantages such as not fading, not changing color, high temperature resistance, aging resistance, wear resistance, and easy cleaning. It is often applied to cabinet doors, wardrobe doors, and other door panels in high-end customization brands.  

2. Advantages of PET Door Panels 

        PET door panels are safe and environmentally friendly, with good gloss and bright colors, no color difference, and not easy to fade. Whether used alone or combined with other materials, they can create a harmonious and unified home environment. PET is easy to remove stains; the surface does not generate static electricity during wiping and is not easy to attract dust. The cabinet door surface is scratch-resistant and wear-resistant, leaving no marks easily. Even if frequently exposed to sunlight, the surface color will not change or turn yellow.

        PET door panels are divided into two main categories: high-gloss panels and matte-skin panels. High-gloss panels have a smooth and flat surface with a certain mirror-like effect, giving people a bright and magnificent feeling. The reflection of light can make the entire home environment more refreshing and bright. Matte-skin panels have a very comfortable hand feel, smooth like silk, warm like jade. When touched, they feel as delicate and silky as baby skin, giving the home a soft and elegant quality. Moreover, they do not leave fingerprints or handprints and have extremely strong stain resistance.

3. Differences Between PET, UV, and Titanium-Ceramic Door Panels

        These three types of panels are mostly made for high-gloss smooth surface effects, but there are also matte-skin options. Titanium-ceramic panels have nothing to do with titanium or ceramic; their material is also UV paint. Like cloud stone panels, they are names created by unscrupulous merchants to confuse customers, and they are all low-end UV panels. UV is a very thin layer of paint; the base material of UV door panels is medium-density fiberboard with extremely high glue content, which is commonly called the 'toxic board'. This material is not suitable for home decoration and will continuously release formaldehyde, benzene, and other carcinogenic substances. PET, on the other hand, is a material, a polymer film. The base material of genuine PET door panels is MDI environmentally friendly particleboard. UV door panels are difficult to distinguish from PET in appearance, but you can use keys or other sharp objects to perform a scratch test on the surface. PET is difficult to scratch, while UV door panels easily leave scratches due to insufficient hardness. You can also use a marker pen to test the difference between UV door panels and PET: the former leaves marks that are difficult to erase and may even penetrate the paint layer, while PET can be easily wiped clean. In daily use, because PET material has obvious advantages such as not fading, not changing color, pressure resistance, impact resistance, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, aging resistance, and easy cleaning. Over time, UV door panels will gradually turn yellow and become brittle, while PET will not. From the side view, PET has a thickness of about 0.5mm, while UV is only about 0.1mm thick, making it prone to edge chipping and peeling during use.

4. How to Identify Genuine vs. Fake PET

        Currently, there is no up-to-standard PET produced domestically in China; genuine PET is all imported, mainly from Toray in Japan and LG in South Korea. The highest quality one is LG's PET film from South Korea, which has been leading the high-end door panel market trend. LG Hausys PET decorative film products are produced by LG hausys (Chinese name: Le Jin Hua Ao Si) and are green and environmentally friendly materials with excellent fingerprint resistance, stain resistance, wear resistance, scratch resistance, and are not easy to fade. Due to their high price, many unscrupulous merchants in China counterfeit LG's PET to make huge profits. Most use UV panels to impersonate, while some slightly better ones use South Korean ASA fake materials to impersonate PET. allvs reminds consumers that fake PET is generally very cheap in price and will turn yellow and fade after a few years of use. Because it uses UV paint, it will continuously release formaldehyde, xylene, and other carcinogenic substances. Before purchasing, be sure to ask the merchant to present the authorization certificate and anti-counterfeit code, or require the contract to state 'All high-gloss door panels used are LG Hyundai PET; if fake, we will compensate ten times the value!'
