1. What is PET

        PET film is also called high-temperature resistant polyester film, composed only of C, H, O three elements. Due to its highly symmetrical molecular structure, it's called poly(ethylene terephthalate). PET material has many excellent properties, with outstanding optical performance, film-forming ability, and weather resistance. It is a new type of food-grade polymer material that contains no toxic substances or odors, and can be directly used for food packaging, like the plastic wrap, beverage bottles, and baby milk bottles we use in daily life. PET decorative film is made from PET material, does not release toxic or harmful gases during use, is green and environmentally friendly, and has advantages such as no fading, no color change, high temperature resistance, aging resistance, easy cleaning and wear resistance. It is often used on cabinet doors and wardrobe doors in high-end customization brands.  

2. Advantages of PET Door Panels 

        PET door panels are safe and environmentally friendly, with excellent glossiness and vibrant colors, no color difference, and are not easy to fade. Whether used alone or paired with other materials, they can create a harmonious and unified home environment. PET is easy to decontaminate, and its surface does not generate static electricity and is not easy to attract dust during wiping. The cabinet door surface is scratch-resistant and wear-resistant, not easy to leave marks. Even if frequently exposed to sunlight, the surface color will not change or turn yellow.

        PET door panels are divided into two categories: high-gloss panels and skin-feel matte panels. High-gloss panels have a smooth and flat surface with a certain mirror effect, giving people a bright and magnificent feeling. The reflection of light can make the entire home environment more fresh and bright. Skin-feel matte panels have a very comfortable hand feel, smooth like silk, warm like jade. Touching them feels as delicate and silky as baby skin, giving the home a soft and elegant quality. They do not leave fingerprints or handprints, and have extremely strong stain resistance.

3. Differences Between PET, UV, and Titanium-Ceramic Door Panels

        Most of these three types of panels are used to achieve high-gloss smooth surface effects, with some also having matte skin-feel finishes. Titanium-ceramic panels have nothing to do with titanium or ceramic; their material is also UV paint. Like stone-pattern panels, they are names created by unscrupulous merchants to confuse customers, all belonging to low-end UV panels. UV is a very thin layer of paint finish. The base material of UV door panels is density board with extremely high glue content, which is the so-called toxic board. This material is not suitable for home decoration as it continuously releases formaldehyde, benzene and other carcinogenic substances; while PET is a material, a polymer film. The base material of genuine PET door panels is MDI environmentally friendly particleboard. UV door panels are difficult to distinguish from PET in appearance, but you can use keys or other sharp objects to perform a scratch test on the surface. PET hardly leaves scratches, while UV door panels easily leave scratches due to insufficient hardness. You can also use a marker to test the difference between UV door panels and PET. The former leaves marks that are difficult to erase and may even penetrate the paint layer, while PET can be easily wiped clean. In daily use, because PET material has obvious advantages such as no fading, no color change, pressure resistance, impact resistance, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, aging resistance, and easy cleaning. Over time, UV door panels will slowly turn yellow and become brittle, while PET will not. From the side view, PET's thickness is about 0.5mm, while UV's thickness is only about 0.1mm, making it easy to chip and peel during use.

4. How to Distinguish Real from Fake PET

        Currently there is no domestically produced PET that meets the standard. Genuine PET is all imported, mainly from Japan's Toray and South Korea's LG, with the best quality being South Korea's LG PET film, which has been leading the high-end door panel market trend. LG Hausys PET decorative film products are produced by LG hausys, a green environmental protection material with excellent anti-fingerprint, stain-resistant, wear-resistant, scratch-resistant properties and is not easy to fade. Due to its high price, many unscrupulous merchants in China counterfeit LG's PET for huge profits. Most use UV panels as counterfeits, and slightly better ones use South Korean ASA fake materials to impersonate PET.
